Lower cholesterol with pistachios

Pistachios have always been considered not-so-healthy. But not anymore. Scientists fed participants 40 to 85gm of pistachio nuts each day, for a month. Their cholesterol level came down by 8.4percent and their LDL by 11.6 percent. Researchers feel that pistachios help lower cholesterol because they contain monounsaturated fats, the antioxidants lutein, beta-carotene, and Vitamin E.
The case for cleaner contacts
It’s not just teens that are careless about cleaning their contact lenses: when researchers tested the solution in 16 healthy adult patients’ cases, two-thirds contained fungi or bacteria. The most common strain: pseudomonas, which can cause severe corneal infections, leading to blindness. To clean lenses, follow these guidelines
 Never top off your solution in the case. Dump residual solution and rinse your case with fresh solution. then air-dry
 Gently rub contact lenses with disinfectant solution prior to storing. You need to rub them to remove build-up on the lenses.
 Fill with fresh solution, and store contacts in the case.
 Change your storage case every time you buy a new bottle of disinfecting fluid, or at least every three months.
Safest of all are daily disposables. And always remove lenses before bed: sleeping in them increases the risk of infection more than fivefold.
